Admissions Criteria
Applicants to Talpiot must have:
- Successfully graduated from grade twelve with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
- Minimum of six Grade 12 U or M courses including Grade 12 U English, and at least one Grade 12U or M courses from ONE of the following disciplines:
- Canadian and World Studies
- Classical Languages and International Languages
- French and Mathematics
- Attained fluency in reading and understanding Hebrew texts and commentaries; and, Attended at least one full academic year at a recognised post high school seminary program. To truly appreciate attendance at our program, applicants should identify with the types of goals and values, the desired social ambiance and the level of religious commitment that originally prompted the founding and
development of Talpiot. - Talpiot does consider out-of-town applications from high school graduates who have obtained a High School Diploma with at least an 80% average.
- Mature students are encouraged to apply to the Registrar, who will ensure that each application is given carefully individual consideration. Although there may be some flexibility in the academic requirements for mature applicants, a high school transcript and a resume of work experience must be included with any application. Letters of recommendation from past employers and from the
applicant’s rabbi must be included with the application. - In order to allow for the maximum flexibility with respect to freshman credits, Talpiot accepts a maximum of 30 CLEP credits towards specific credits within degree programs. Furthermore, NYU language exams may also fulfil some of these requirements.
